"Cry for You", also known every bit "Cry for You (You'll Never Come across Me Once more)" on Hard2Beat,[1] is a song by Swedish singer Petra Marklund, performing as September. The dance-pop track spent three weeks at the top spot of Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay Chart in May 2007.[2] In the United States, it is the second single from September'south album September, succeeding "Satellites" (a number 8 hit on the Dance Airplay chart), while overseas it is her fifth unmarried release from her second studio album In Orbit, following "It Doesn't Matter". It is also a unmarried from diverse compilation albums released in Europe.

Before the worldwide release in 2007, September had originally recorded the song for her studio anthology In Orbit (2005). However, in many compilations September has released, the vocal has appeared on her compilations including September, Dancing in Orbit, Gold and Cry for You - The Album. Co-ordinate to September, she explained the reason why she wanted to release it worldwide, past saying "The song was so strong by itself. And I've been in that location and it feels similar the fans are starved of dance music. But now dance music is coming dorsum once more, and the world is getting smaller and smaller because of the internet – that at present sometimes you don't fifty-fifty take to exercise much promotion, although obviously it is still very important. In an interview with Digital Spy, they asked about the groundwork of the song, when she replied:[4]
"It's about when you lot're done with relationship. A lot of people write to me and say 'It's really emotional and I feel so much for the song because my boyfriend la la la', which is actually nice for me, even though I didn't write the lyrics. I've had a lot of experiences like that so that's what gives me the nervus to sing information technology."

"Cry for You" received positive reviews from music critics. Nick Levine from Digital Spy awarded the song with four stars out of five, giving it a positive review. He stated "[...] it's a surprisingly affecting Eurodance number, a record that's both relentlessly danceable and badly sad" and said its "actually a pretty decent record."[ten] Yet, he felt the vocal was not "original" enough to outbet releases by swain Swedish singer Robyn. Popjustice said the song is a "massive balls-out club canticle and we call back it works rather well."[eleven] Ben Norman from Virtually.com called the song the "Best Dance Crossover Track", while proverb "Robbins [Entertainment] has since made peace with me by backing and promoting Swedish vocaliser September and this Europop confection. Practiced job guys!."[12]
AllMusic had rated the song three-and-a-half-stars out of five stars.[13] Thousand. Ross Hoffman, also from AllMusic, had highlighted the song as an album standout, and said "'Weep [for You]' is the obvious standout, managing to conjure both sophistication and a surprising degree of emotion from its adequately pedestrian frothy electro-pop organisation and polished merely powerful vocal plough."[14] Nonetheless, he also added "'Weep for You lot' is a stiff plenty rail (though fairly faceless too, in its way) [...]." PopBytes.com gave it a positive review, saying information technology'south "total pop trip the light fantastic toe fluff but highly enjoyable."[15]
Chart functioning [edit]

The remixed version entered the UK Singles Chart at number ix, and later climbed to number five, following release of a physical unmarried for the song. On 28 December 2008, the UK Singles Nautical chart had this every bit number xxx-5 for the top songs of 2008.
In France, "Weep for Y'all" topped the airplay nautical chart and debuted at number six on the singles nautical chart. The song debuted at number nineteen on 10 August 2008 and peaked at number fourteen. In New Zealand airplay and official charts, the song debuted at number 30-9 on the result date of 22 September 2008.
"Cry for You" was certified gold for shipment of over 500,000 copies by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2010. The vocal is the first by a Swedish artist to exist certified by the RIAA since Ace of Base'south Cruel Summer in 1998. The song was listed at number v on the Superlative 100 Club Chart Twelvemonth-End upshot.[xvi]

Ii music videos were released for the unmarried. The international version is fix at the edge of a futuristic city within a large solitary edifice which could be a prison, barracks or mill. First in late 2018, "Cry for Y'all" received renewed involvement when it appeared in a popular meme format on Twitter.
